Technology Lesson Demonstration

ChatGPT app

Computer-based app and phone-based app

AI technology is becoming a prevalent classroom resource in today's education system. As educators, we can either embrace it and teach our students how to use it ethically and creatively or avoid it and set them up for failure later on in the future. I used the ChatGPT computer and phone app versions for this demonstration to demonstrate how this resource can help teachers and students with academic material. As a teacher, I can develop a differentiated lesson plan that can be adjusted to meet my student's needs and their level of knowledge in a matter of minutes. I can get ideas on different projects, teaching methods, and evaluation strategies. As a student, this resource goes beyond a source of text information and becomes an interactive application that students can use to communicate and receive feedback on their answers and questions. As with all AI resources, teachers must begin lessons using ChatGPT by introducing the app's capabilities, teaching techniques to give it appropriate prompts to get information that will help develop creative solutions, discussing plagiarism issues, and curating all information generated effectively.

Technology can offer several valuable resources when a teacher needs different methods to approach a lesson. For example, having a digital classroom where you can post lessons and activities will allow teachers to assign work to students based on their readiness level and individual needs. Using different apps, such as IXL, Duolingo, Khan Academy, and Study Island, will allow students to continue learning based on their individual progress. Text-to-speech, speech recognition, screen readers, and augmentative software allow students with visual impairments or reading difficulties to participate in class activities. Also, giving students choices on how to present material such as posters, graphic organizers, written reports, brochures, digital storytelling, video recordings, songs or models, and prototypes of products allows them to use their strengths and interests to showcase creativity and originality with the material learned.
